서태평양에 위치한 마리아나 해구는 세계 해양에서 가장 깊은 부분입니다. Challenger Deep으로 알려진 지점에서 알려진 최대 깊이는 약 10,994m(36,070피트)에 도달합니다. 참호의 이름은 인근 마리아나 제도의 이름을 따서 명명되었습니다.  마리아나 해구에 대한 가장 깊은 유인 잠수에 대한 세계 기록은 2019년 4월 28일 Victor Vescovo가 세웠습니다. Vescovo는 잠수정인 DSV Limiting Factor를 타고 수심 35,853피트(10,927미터)까지 하강하여 이전 기록을 뛰어넘고 해구의 극한 조건과 독특한 해양 생물에 대한 이해를 넓혔습니다. (사진에서 바다의 가장 깊은 부분의 표면 사진을 볼 수 있습니다)

The Mariana Trench, located in the western Pacific Ocean, is the deepest part of the world's oceans. It reaches a maximum known depth of about 36,070 feet (10,994 meters) at a point known as Challenger Deep. The trench is named after the nearby Mariana Islands.  The world record for the deepest manned dive into the Mariana Trench was set by Victor Vescovo on April 28, 2019. Vescovo descended to a depth of 35,853 feet (10,927 meters) in his submersible, DSV Limiting Factor, surpassing previous records and furthering our understanding of the trench's extreme conditions and unique marine life.
